Golnaz Harandi, another Canadian of Iranian-descent within reach of Miss Universe Canada
Canada is a country of immigrants but observers are surprised by the success of the Iranian immigrant community in the Miss Universe Canada contests. Three ladies of Iranian-descent have won Miss Universe Canada title in the past eight years. And this year, Golnaz Harandi, one of the youngest finalists (she is only 18) from West Vancouver is a hopeful and sees herself as fit for the title.
In an exclusive interview with Kodoom.com, Golnaz talks about her childhood dreams of winning a beauty pageant contest, and her dedication to the current competition. Out of the 300 competitors from Vancouver, Golnaz and 11 others were selected after 3 rounds of competition, to join other national finalists. Golnaz is family oriented and loves her parents who immigrated to Canada from Iran. She is a professional pianist and an amateur fashion designer. If she wins the contest, she plans to use her title and influence to create positive social changes in Canada and Iran, help fundraisers for Children's causes, and improve the public image of the Iranian immigrant community in the world, and particularly in Canada.
Golnaz wants her fans to go to her page on the official website of the Miss Universe Canada competition and vote for her. Apparently voters can vote more than once and as many as 6 times per day! Polls will close in less than two weeks. Businesses can also support Golnaz by sponsoring her and in return receive great publicity in the contest. Her fans can contact her by joining her fan page on facebook.
There are also five other national finalists with Iranian ethnic background. To see their names and a list and picture of other contestants click here.
