Dark history of British Petroleum: Destroying democracy in Iran
On Amy Goodman's Democracy Now show, Stephen Kinzer, award winning journalist and author of "All the Shah's Men" discusses the history of British Petroleum (BP) from its origin, the Anglo -Iranian Oil Company. Kinzer points out that long before this year's oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, BP had a major role in another kind of "spill" entirely - the destruction of Iran's democracy more than half a century ago. August 19 is the anniversary of the CIA-led (and British Petroleum - provoked) coup against Iran's democratically elected government of Dr. Mohammad Mosaddegh.
