In Pictures: Pro-Reform Chants in the Funeral of Founder of Iran's Revolution
Independent Aggregator of Iran-related News/Events, Kodoom.com: Pro-reform slogans were chanted by crowds of Tehran residents who attended the funeral procession for Akbar Hashemi Rafsanajani, one of the founders of Iran's 1979 Islamic revolution. Over his support for the now house-arrested Mir Hossein Mousavi, leader of Iran's green reformist movement, Rafsanjani parted ways with Iran's Leader Ayatollah Khamenei who has out-powered his liberal reform-minded revolutionary compatriots.
Ali Motahari, a Reformist Member of Iranian Parliament, has mentioned pro-reform slogans during the funeral as another reason for ending the house arrest of Mir Hussein Mousavi. Motahari's father, late Ayatollah Motahari, was also a founding father of Iran's Islamic Revolution who was assassinated by Forghan, allegedly a CIA-backed extremist group, shortly after the victory of the revolutionaries in Iran.
