Mohammad Mokhtari according to his facebook! (picture and video)
Mohammad Mokhtari, 22, was killed during February 14th "green" reformists demonstrations in Tehran. He was shot in the shoulder by a gunman riding an unmarked motorcycle, which reformists say belonged to pro-government militia (Basij) but government sources claim belonged to anti-government armed groups.
Large groups of security forces and unmarked pro-government militia attended Mokhtari's funeral and chanted ant-reformist slogans (some seen in picture below) despite wishes by Mokhtari's grieving family (father seen in tears in second picture).
In one of his last postings on his Facebook Wall, before heading to demonstrations, Mokhtari writes:
" O'Lord, grant me the honor of dying when I stand up, because I am just about tired of sitting in humiliation!"
Mokhtari was part of an educated family and two of his brothers live and work outside Iran (United States and Dubai). Mokhtari was athletic and played soccer and other sports. He was a fan of FC Barcelona, Milan FC, Chelsea FC and Esteghlal FC (of Iran). His favorite Persian artists were Arash, Aylar, Rastak, Farzad farzin, and Saeed Modares. He also liked Al Pacino, Robert DeNiro, Barack Obama, Bradd Pitt, Will Smith, Charlize Theron, and Leonardo DeCaprio.
Mokhtari's fan page on facebook, which has attracted more than 10,000 people so far, has postings like "Only in Iran, killers carry the coffin of a victim!" or "how to make a Molotoff coktail" or "we will take your revenge." Reformists have called for a national day of protest on February 20 (7th day of Mokhtari's death).
Despite his athletic and outgoing personality, he was calm and thoughtful and liked Caspian sea. Pictures below show him at the sea shore.
The video below (in farsi) is a tribute to Mokhtari and Saneh Jaleh, another demonstrator who was also killed during February 14th anti-government demonstrations in Tehran.
