Asian record holder Ehsan Haddadi, who snatched the men's discus throw gold medal title for Iran at the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou, China, says he has lost his drive due to some intolerable circumstances in Iran. His scheduled training in South Africa in preparation for the London Olympics has been canceled due to budget shortfalls, and he has not been paid for 4 months now. He has no insurance coverage and had to spend $20,000 of his own money last year on an operation to fix his shoulder injury.
Iran's Track and Field Federation has been without a new Director after resignation of former Director Mostafa Karimi.
