How did Kerry's son-in-law met Vanessa Kerry?
A high profile marriage of an Iranian American doctor to actress Gina Davis was already reported (Link). But news now reveals that John Kerry's son-in-law is also a physician of Iranian-American descent. The news comes out shortly after Kerry faced staunch opposition from right wing pro-Israeli Republicans to his nomination as Secretary of State. In 2009 Dr. Vanessa Bradford Kerry, John Kerry’s younger daughter by his first wife, married Dr. Brian Vala Nahed. Although of Iranian ancestry, Dr. Nahed has never traveled to Iran.
UPDATE:Several malicious references have been made to this article by opponents of Dr. Kerry, falsely accusing of relations between Dr. Nahed and Javad Zarif, Iranian Foreign Minister. Our research shows there has been no such relation, and Dr. Nahed has never even traveled to Iran or held any interest in politics. Read more below ....
Dr. Brian Vala Nahed is son of Nooshin and Reza Nahed of Los Angeles. From the official wedding announcement in the October 2009 issue of New York Times: "The bridegroom graduated magna cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles, and received his medical degree cum laude from Yale. His father, a pulmonologist and sleep medicine and critical-care physician, is the chief of staff at Holy Cross Hospital in Mission Hills, Calif. He also runs a private practice there, which is managed by the bridegroom’s mother."
The couple officially met, clad in scrubs, on an early September morning in 2005 at Massachusetts General Hospital. It was 5 a.m., and Dr. Kerry and Dr. Nahed, who had seen and noticed each other several times before, were taking a short break after making morning rounds. They had struck up a conversation when a very attractive nurse interrupted them by offering Dr. Nahed a cup of coffee. He was taken aback and Dr. Kerry was wide-eyed.
“I looked at him as if to say ‘O.K., I got your game, I’m done,’ ” Dr. Kerry recalled.
Dr. Nahed accepted the coffee, but said to the nurse, “I think you need to bring her a cup of coffee as well.”
Dr. Kerry was impressed with how he handled the situation. Almost immediately, they became friends. Two months later, they were dating. ...
Senator Kerry, who has offered input on everything from choices of invitations and tablecloths to the style of his daughter’s wedding dress to the colors of the tents at their outdoor reception, was soon a member of the planning committee. .."
