Three Iranian-Americans named among Obama's list of distinguished scientists and engineers
Office of the Press Secretary: This week President Obama named 94 researchers as recipients of the Presidential Early Career Awards for Scientists and Engineers, the highest honor bestowed by the United States government on science and engineering professionals in the early stages of their independent research careers. Three Iranian Americans were on this list: Dr. Yasamin Mostofi, Assistant Professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering in University of New Mexico, Dr. Ali Khademhosseini of Harvard Medical School, and Dr. Amir S. Avestimehr of Cornell University.
While the Iranian American ethnic community constitutes only 0.3% of U.S. population, having three honorees on the list (3% of the list) marks an outstanding professional success for the community.
