Iranian special operations force attacks satellite dishes!
A member of Special operations, urban combat force of Iranian police drops from rooftop of a residential 10-story building in Tehran to knock down a satellite dish because the owner did not voluntarily open the door to allow dismantling of the privately installed dish on balcony.
Many Iranians use dishes to see free-to-air political or entertainment channels from outside Iran. Iranian laws ban use of satellite dishes inside private residences although previously the law was not consistently enforced, at least without permission of the landlord. But now under pressures from conservative clerics, commandos are used to enforce the law. Earlier this year, Iran's Police Chief, Ahmadi Moghaddam, has admitted in an interview with Iran's State-run TV, that the 17-year old law banning satellite dishes in Iran needs to be revised because it has not been enforced uniformly over the years. In a poll conducted by Iran's state-run TV, 50% of Tehran households own satellite dishes.
