Arabs have 40 words for camel, Persians and Americans... Part II
The Question from Part I was "If Arabs have 40 words for camel, what are some popular concepts that use many words in Persian and American?" Again, if languages reflect cultures and people, what are some prevalent (Rayej, shaye) concepts in Persian? I can think of a few: - Manhood and loyalty: "Mardanegi, maarefat, maraam, sharaf, bafavayee, mokhlesam, chakeram, eradatmand, gholametam, nokaretam, arbabi, sarvari, …"
- Servitude: "Gholam, bande, barde, nokar, chaker, raeyat, gomshte, khake patam, sange patam, zir-e patam, zaleel, namak-parvardeh, koochiketam, een haghir, arbabi, raeesi, …." - Slick People; "Zerang, teez, rend, marde-rend, ghaltagh, haft-khat, kolah-bardar, charlatan, haroom-zadeh, roobah-sefat, ab-zir-e kaah, na-mard, dozd, arsen-lopan, …"
Behnaz also had a good answer about various forms of smile although these are mostly word combinations using prefixes.
How about the Americans and English? What popular concepts do they have? Send us your comments. We'll discuss them in Part III
