What is English for "Maast Maali": Answer
In response to our May contest about some Persian expressions, unfortunately no one answered all these correctly:
- Maast Maali Kardan: "Doing a quick and dirty Job" or "Doing a half-measure job" or if you want to be impolite and rude: "Doing a half-A.. Job" each dot represents an "S", and the word "A.." is the rude reference to human's Bottom (Buttock or rump).
- Efrat va Tafreet:"Going to Extremes," Excesses, "Too much and Too little," "Being immoderate." - "Moozy" va "Aab-zire kah" va "namard": Sneaky, Sly, slick (slang), devious, Underhanded, Crooked, Crook, Untrustworthy.
Thanks to Saba, Reza, Omid and Hamid for the answers. I haven't heard of slap-dash so it may be a British expression which I am unfamiliar with. "White-wash" is more a reference to covering some dirty job, or placing a nice face to an ugly base, but in some ways it's close to Maast Maali. Saba's responses on "Moozy" were correct.
