Sina Sarlak Starts Concert Tour, Admired by Ebi and Golzar (videos)
Independent Aggregator of Iran-related News/Events, Kodoom.com: Two of the most popular Iranian artists, singer Ebi and actor Mohammad Reza Golzar, have in common their admiration for another artist named Sina Sarlak, who will be on his first ever North American concert tour with Jaana Ensemble this month (Event links).
Sarlak's voice is already familiar to millions of Iranians as heard on sound tracks of Shahrzad, perhaps the most popular film series in Iran's history and among the first funded by private producers and not Iran's state-run TV.
Sarlak was born 1982 in the city of Aligoodarz in Iran. He started singing folk Bakhtiari songs and playing Tonbak (Persian drum) from the age of seven, and later attended classes of Jamshid Mohebbi, Naser Farhangfar, Mohammad Reza Shajarian and Keyvan Saket, all masters of Persian classical music. He performed for both Iran's National Music Orchestra under Farhad Fakhreddini, and Iran's Symphonic Orchestra under Nader Mashayekhi.
The North American tour is produced by 4th Dimension and starts in San Jose this weekend (link).
