Iranian R&B Singer KamyR Shares the Stage with Legendary Stevie Wonder for Peace
The legendary 22 times Grammy Awards winner singer/songwriter Stevie Wonder, the one who performed inspirational pieces at Obama's inauguration, was also the one who inspired Iranian-born Kamyar Ahmadzadeh (Alias KamyR or Kamy R) to get into the music business. Kamy R attended a music conservatory in France (where his family moved to) playing piano as his primary instrument, and developed an interest in mixing traditional Middle Eastern music with Jazz/Blues. He also developed a powerful vocal ability to sing in three languages: Persian, French and English.
This Tuesday night in Los Angeles, Kamy R will sing for Peace on the same stage as his role model and inspiration Stevie Wonder, who was named in 2009 as a United Nations Messenger of Peace. Also on stage are Chaka Khan, Eric Benet, and Flora Martirosian.
Kamy R who was discovered in the Persian music scene by Shahbal Shabpareh, the founder of Black Cats Band, has recorded several albums, including his latest one in Persian and French called "Dobareh" (again):
The Tuesday night concert, titled Artists for Peace Unite to Make Change, was made possible by two other Iranian Americans, Mahyar, the founder of MROK Artist Management, and Siamak Ghahremani, Kamy R's agent.
