Googoosh and Iranian celebrities who did ice bucket challenge their way! Videos
Iranians refer to those who want to be "different" but at a minimal cost, "zerang" (slick). Several Persian/Iranian celebrities such as Googoosh, Sepideh, Ebi, Siavash Ghomeyshi and Niosha Zeyghami have altered ALS' ice bucket challenge (see original event link here), and prompted debate, criticism and sometimes ridicule in Iranian social circles:
Of course, several other Iranian celebrities, such as Andy, Maz Jobrani, Max Amini, Bahram Radan, Ali Karimi, Fatemeh Moetamed Aria, have followed the proper response to ALS' ice bucket challenge (videos below):
Professional sports leagues in America and some other associations have banned such videos due to possibility of abuse of the cause for personal gain and publicity.
In Palestine, a group of youngsters have created a "bucket of dirt" variation (videos below) to seek global action to protest destruction of homes and civilian lives in Gaza.
