Faramarz Aslani's new album after 11 years "The Third Line" (Video and pictures)
Washington DC, University of Maryland, Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, October 15, 2010 (KODOOM.COM): Hundreds of Faramarz Aslani's fans enjoyed debut performance of his new album "The Third Line" (in Persian "khatte sevvom").
This is Aslani's first album after 11 years, and he has dedicated it to the young Iranians struggling for democracy. Aslani was wearing a green wristband throughout the concert, perhaps symbolizing support for the "green" peaceful democratic reform movement in Iran.
The concert was sponsored by The Roshan Center for Persian Studies, University of Maryland, directed by Professor Karimi Hakkak (in picture), and supported by Bamahang Productions. Promotional support and online ticketing technology were offered by Kodoom.com
The concert started solo by guitarist Said Tinat who performed his melodic and peaceful themes. Then other members of the band, Sean and Taimoor joined Said on stage before Aslani showed up on stage to a cheerful audience.
Aslani started the concert by humor but also shared his sadness over loss of Iranian diva Marzieh. During the concert, he performed his popular memorable oldies, such as "Age Yeh Rooz," as well as songs from his new album. The fans in audience sang and cheered along Aslani's soulful songs (see video below).
Following the concert, Aslani spent time with fans to sign their copies of his new album, and pose for pictures. The venue and event management had to escort Aslani out at around 11 PM to stay on schedule. Ecstatic and appreciative fans cheered for Aslani on his way out.
