Heroic Story of Iranian American Race Car Driver on US Screens
Independent Aggregator of Iran-related News/Events, Kodoom.com: America is new home to an estimated one million Iranian Americans who could not be more proud after seeing "American Wrestler, The Wizard," which will be screened in theaters for one night only on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 (Location and Ticket Link). Based on the inspirational real life story of renowned Iranian American race car driver, the heart warming and exciting film is about Ali Jahani (Afshar), facing adversity as a teenager Iranian immigrant in a small California town. Rejected by his classmates but determined to fit in, Ali joins school's floundering wrestling team, develops American-style thick skin, and earns respect of his peers and the community through diligence and determination, traits common to many Iranian Americans and other immigrants.
The film's theme song “Rise” is performed by Iranian American Armenian singer Andy Madadian and features Shani Rigsbee. Oscar-winning actor John Voight (Angelina Jolie's father) as well as William Fichtner, George Kosturos and Ali Afshar star in the film presented by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and Fathom Events.
The film has won awards in 10 film festivals, a stellar rating of 8.3 in IMDB, and will be screened only on May 3rd at 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. local time in select movie theaters across the US. A complete list of theater location and tickets can be found HERE in this link.
