A Celebration of Ebi Draws Persian Stars, Criticism (Video)
Independent Aggregator of Iran-related News/Events, Kodoom.com: Earlier this year, a red carpet event in Los Angeles celebrated the 50-year anniversary in the career of Persian pop star, Ebi Hamedi. The gala attracted some of the best known celebrities in the Iranian American music industry, as well as criticism by some of those excluded, such as the founder of LA-based Tapesh Persian Entertainment TV (see video below).
According to Javanan, the lavish elegant ceremony was co-produced by Ebi’s step-son and manager Farshid Rafahi and UK-based Manoto TV, founded by Kayvan Abbassi.
Among the star musicians who attended, and some performed for the event to honor Ebi were Andy (Madadian), Rana Mansour, Sattar, Faramarz Aslani, Babak Amini, Shohreh Solati, Leila Forouhar, Shahram Shabpareh, Morteza Barjasteh, Kamran and Hooman, Siavash Ghomayshi, Shahbal Shabpareh, Shahram Azar (Sandy), Pyruz, Michael, Shahab Tiam, Farshid Amin, Sepideh, Helen, Hengameh, Kamyar, Erfan and Nadia Ali.
Among those absent were Googoosh, Dariush, Moein, Omid, Mansour, Shadmehr Aghili, and Arash, as well as directors of two LA-based Persian entertainment TVs, Hamid Shabkhiz and Alireza Amirghassemi, who was not invited and later implicitly criticized ticket sales and profiteering from the red carpet event (shown above after Minute 13:30).
