Andy: Expect my most entertaining concert of the year (Part 2)
Andranik Madadian, better known by his stage name, Andy, is a singer/songwriter icon of Armenian-Iranian heritage with one of the highest number of popular hits in Persian pop music. In Part 1, Andy talked about his marriage. As part II of Kodoom.com's INFORMAL series (in Persian: Bedune Taarof) we had a short conversation with Andy about his new hits and his upcoming mega concert (link here) in Greek Theater in Los Angeles.
Kodoom.com: Why perform in Greek Theater again? Isn't this a risky time for Iranian concerts?
Andy: I love performing for my fans whether for small groups of fans in weddings or for large audiences. Honestly my schedule is already busy with private invitations and overseas concerts but I wanted to get together with my hometown Californian fans again and share with them our most entertaining event of the year. I have performed in Greek Theater three times before, also in Kodak Theater (video below) and even in Rose Bowl for 83000 Americans. But the upcoming concert on August 4 will be very special for me and my fans. Based on fan reactions (in facebook, emails, Youtube, etc) to my recent hits, I feel Los Angeles is ready for our most entertaining event of the year. You have heard how entertaining our previous Greek Theater concerts were. This is a MUST-attend event for all my fans and anyone who wants to see world class entertainment in an international venue for the Iranian community. Besides, we have made tickets available to Kodoom.com (link here) so my fans on your site can reserve best seats at great prices.
Kodoom.com: Tell us about your new singles. Do you plan to perform them in Greek Theater?
Andy: My two most recent hit (video shown below) "Che Ehsaseh Ghashangi" was made with lyrics and music composed by friends inside Iran (from Rasht and Ahvaz). Another recent single is DJ which I performed with my wife Shani. The song was written by Paksima Zakipour and Shani. Both of these songs are great dance music and already well received in Iranian parties and discos.
The show also marks the first public performance of "We Hear Your Voice", a musical message that unites and expresses solidarity with some of the greatest voices of the world: Pop stars - Ehsan Aman of Afghanistan, Liel Kolet of Israel and Sung Bong Choi of Korea who have traveled from their native countries to join me and Shani in this performance of a lifetime being filmed for a September release. The song “We Hear Your Voice”, written and produced by Shani, is dedicated to the theme of hope and peace. The sound recording will feature Pop Stars Sonu Nigam of India, Igor Nikolaev and Yulia Proskuryakova of Russia, and others, in addition to the Artists attending the August 4th Concert. All proceeds from the digital downloads of the song will be donated to improve children’s welfare throughout the world.
Also many Iranians may not know that my wife Shani Rigsbee and her music have been featured in highly acclaimed feature films such as the Academy Award Winning CRASH, the epic ONE NIGHT WITH THE KING (FOX). She was chosen as the featured vocalist for the Mega-hit "Parasite Eve" for SonyPlaystation and has contributed and appeared in many studio and independent films and television. Having an International fan base from her 4 solo albums, she has toured the globe extensively and played in some of the world’s most exclusive and high profile venues such as The Kennedy Center, The Lincoln Center, The Kodak Theatre, Greek Theatre to Dubai’s Aviation Center. She has collaborated with and enjoys friendships with many of the World’s top Artists. Also, as an activist, she supports various charitable causes including Women’s Health, Animal Advocacy Groups and International Humanitarian organizations.
