Ben Affleck and George Clooney make movie about Iran

Huffington Post: According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ben Affleck is in talks to direct a film called 'Argo,' produced by George Clooney, based on the 1979-1981 hostage crisis in Tehran.

The film is about former CIA "Master of Disguise" Tony Mendez (pictured below) who smuggled six American diplomats out of Tehran during the hostage crisis in 1979, by concocting a fake Canadian movie production, called "Argo," and pretending the diplomats were part of the film crew. Mendez and his wife, both CIA operatives, specialized in forging foreign documents, creating disguises and handling other graphical work related to espionage.

George Clooney, who is no stranger to Middle East and Iran-related themes, produced and starred in 2005's 'Syriana.' According to Iranian news sources, Clooney at least on one occasion had seriously planned to travel to Iran. He says he admires Iranian movies and film makers because they "are still making movies while complying with all the religious, traditional and legal requirements!"
