Ebi was celebrated on Two Norooz TV programs (Videos)
Independent Aggregator of Iran-related News/Events, Kodoom.com: This Norooz (Persian New Year) well-known exiled Iranian Pop star Ebi (Ebrahim Hamedi) appeared on two Norooz programs sponsored by UK-based (state-funded) TV stations BBC Persian and Manoto TV. The Manoto TV special, a red carpet gala taped in Los Angeles to celebrate Ebi's 50 year career anniversary, attracted some of the best known celebrities in the Iranian American music industry, as well as criticism by some of those excluded (Read full story here).
The second Norooz program, recorded annually by BBC's Persian TV services on the occasion of Norooz, was taped in London:
Despite their popularity inside Iran, Ebi and most Iranian pop stars in diaspora are not permitted to perform inside Iran under rules imposed by conservative Islamic religious leaders.
