Epic film about Iranian American athlete receives high ratings after digital release
Independent Aggregator of Iran-related News/Events, Kodoom.com: Hollywood movies rarely cast Iranians in a positive light but now a new film released by Warner Bros. Entertainment, portrays an Iranian American athlete as a patriotic, heroic protagonist.
Released digitally last week, "American Wrestler, The Wizard," is based on the inspirational real life story of renowned Iranian American athlete, actor and race car driver, Ali Afshar. The heart warming and exciting film depicts how Ali Jahani (Afshar) faces adversity as a teenager Iranian immigrant in a small California town. Rejected by his classmates but determined to fit in, Ali joins school's floundering wrestling team, develops American-style thick skin, and earns respect of his peers and the community through diligence and determination, traits common to many Iranian Americans and other immigrants.
The film is now available in Walmart stores or on online at Walmart.com, Target.com, Amazon.com or digitally on iTunes, Amazon videos, google play, and from most cable providers as VOD (Video on Demand) or Pay per view. If the film is out of stock, your order will be still processed and shipped as soon as available.
The film has won awards in 10 film festivals and received a stellar rating of 7.1 in IMDB, 5 stars on iTunes and a 4.6 rating on Google play. America is new home to an estimated one million Iranian Americans. By supporting this movie and rating it high in iTunes, IMDB, Google play and other channels, the Iranian American community will send a clear and strong message to Hollywood that when they portray Iranians in a positive manner, they will be positively rewarded and inclined to create more of these movies
The film's theme song “Rise” is performed by Iranian American Armenian singer Andy Madadian and features Shani Rigsbee. Oscar-winning actor John Voight (Angelina Jolie's father) as well as William Fichtner, George Kosturos and Ali Afshar star in the film presented by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and Fathom Events.
The film's publicity is managed by Mojgan Gomroki and Sam Dian of CAPR Group.
