German prodigy of Iranian descent admired for her humility as well as genius
Three years ago, German media discussed a 14-year old prodigy of Iranian-descent, Minu Dietlinde Tizabi, who completed the German version of the high school diploma (Abitur) four years earlier than usual and with the highest possible grade, a 1.0. Out of a maximum of 840 points she could have scored on the test, the youngster from Pforzheim racked up an amazing 815.
But what attracted the media to Minu was also the level-headed, "normal" and unassuming attitude of Minu who doesn't think she is a genius or deserves any special attention. The grounded teenager, who lost her mother when she was just a month old, was raised by her father Djamshid Tizabi, an Iranian-born certified engineer in quantum electronics, and Minu's main role model and supporter. Minu is currently completing her third year in Medical school at Heidelberg University.
Another German of Iranian-descent who attracted nationwide publicity in April, is Mehrzad Marashi, Iranian-born musical genius who outperformed some 35000 contestants to win this year's finale of "Deutschland Sucht Den Superstar" (German version of American idol talent search show). Marashi who is 29 now, moved at 5 from Tehran to Germany with his family.
