Golazar, Dia Mirza and Bachchan to star in Iranian-Indian film?
Iranian News Search Engine, Kodoom.com: India's popular half-Indian, half-German actress Dia Mirza, and Iran's famed actor Mohammad Reza Golzar, are to star in "Salam Bombay" (Hi Mumbai), a joint Iranian-Indian film production directed by Ghorban Mohammadpour and co-produced by Javad Norouzbeigi and Pahlaj Nihalani, Head of India's Central Board of Film Certification and former President of India's Association of Motion Pictures. Indian music composer Dilshad Shaikh will also join the production.
Iran's Islamic law and film authorities have a ban on dancing in movies and Golzar has to abide by those rules to maintain his permits inside Iran. So it is uncertain how a Bollywood production can be without romance, dance and singing. It was initially reported that India's superstar Aishwarya Rai, clad with Hijab (head cover) and modest garment, was Golzar's co-star in the film, but later her name dropped from the cast. If produced by the standards of Iranian government, this may be Bollywood's first ever production without dance, romance and joint songs by lovers.
Shooting of the film is to start on location in Mumbai in November and later in Iran with a cast of Iranian and Bollywood actors, possibly Amitabh Bachchan or Om Puri.
