Images of outspoken Iranian actress Fatemeh Motamed Aria finally barred from Iranian media
Fatemeh Motamed Aria, popular Iranian actress, an outspoken reformist and a strong proponent of women's rights and green movement in Iran, was forbidden from leaving Iran a few months ago, but allowed later to participate in 2010 Cannes Film Festival. In defiance to the strict theocratic rules in Iran, she appeared at Cannes without a head cover (Hijab) and wore a green wristband in solidarity with Iran's Green reform movement (picture above). Upon her return to Iran, some religious fundamentalists called for government to ban her work and image in the media. Today it was confirmed that the state--run TV has banned her images from public display on TV. It is not clear whether the government will also ban her from leaving Iran or not.
