Iran's Culture Ministry blocks cancellation by Militia of rock music concert
Independent Persian News Search Engine, Kodoom.com: Following a series of cancellations of legal pop and rock music concerts by radical religious pressure groups and militia, last Thursday officials of Iranian Ministry of Culture blocked cancellation of yet another pop, rock music concert in Tehran by personally attending the event. Pictures show successful performance by Kaveh Afagh in Tehran.
Under reform-minded President Rohani, Iran's Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance regularly issued public concert permits to Persian pop and rock music bands. Yet threats or demonstrations by religious militia (Basij - close to Iran's Leader) have led to last minute cancellation of many concerts despite popular demand and ticket sales.
