Iran's World Records in Guinness Are Mostly Impressive

By share of population, the largest empire was the Achaemenid Empire, better known as the Persian Empire, which accounted for approximately 49.4 million of the world’s 112.4 million people in around 480 BC – an astonishing 44%. Originating in modern-day Iran, the empire was first established by Cyrus the Great and included parts of Central Asia, the Mediterranean, North Africa, and even European territories such as ancient Thrace and Macedonia.
Largest hand-woven carpet measuring 5,630 m² (60,600.81 ft²) manufactured by the Iran Carpet Company (Iran) was created for the Abu Dhabi Sheikh Zayed mosque and was measured in Abu Dhabi, UAE, in 2007. The carpet was created in 9 parts and assembled in the mosque.
Most consecutive clean sheets by a team in FIFA World Cup qualifying matches is 12, achieved by the Iran national team (Iran) from 17 November 2015 to 31 August 2017.
The most expensive of all caviar, and indeed the world's most expensive food is 'Almas', from the Iranian Beluga fish - 1 kg (2 lb 3 oz) of this 'black gold' is regularly sold for £20,000 (then $34,500). Almas is produced from the eggs of a rare albino sturgeon between 60-100 years old, which swims in the southern Caspian Sea where there is apparently less pollution.
Largest percentage of population to attend a funeral: Official Iranian estimates gave the size of the crowds, lining the 32-km 20-mile route to Tehrans Behesht-e Zahra cemetery on June 11, 1989, for the funeral of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini as 10,200,000 people, that is one-sixth of the population of Iran. Western agencies etimated that 2 million paid their respects as the body lay in state. In the crush eight people were killed and 500 injured.
The most simultaneous games of chess played by an individual was 135 by Ehsan Ghaem Maghami (Iran) at the Shahid Beheshti University sports stadium in Tehran, Iran, on 8-9 February 2011. Maghami is a chess Grand Master and a 9-time Iranian national champion. All qualified opponents were required to possess an Elo rating of at least 1,200 before the attempt.
Anousheh Ansari (Iran) became the first female space tourist on 18 September 2006 when the Soyuz TMA-9 capsule blasted off for a 10-day visit to the International Space Station. Businesswoman Ansari has had a lifelong fascination with space and is thought to have paid $20 million (£10.5 million) for the experience.
Heaviest weightlifting 85 kg clean & jerk (male): Kianoush Rostami (Iran) successfully clean & jerked 220 kg (485 lb) at the International Fajr Cup IWF Grand Prix in Tehran, Iran, on 31 May 2016. He surpassed Zhang Yong’s record of 218 kg, which had stood since 1998.
Iran also has one of the largest ratios of female university students to male students and holds records in production of exquisite products such as pistachio, hand-woven rugs and saffron.
Unfortunately, however, Iran is also a record holder in some not so impressive categories, for example, the Highest number of juvenile executions (In 2009, it was reported by the Amnesty International that there were seven such executions in Iran, while it had reported eight in 2008 with a further 133 facing execution), Highest Number of College graduates who immigrate out of the country, and Highest consumption of certain drugs such as opium.
