Iranian American Model Snubs Trump with Creative Gown in The GRAMMYs

With the 2020 Grammy Awards - plagued by allegations of sexual misconduct and vote rigging - falling on the same year as the upcoming U.S. presidential election, it’s no surprise that political dressing took over the red carpet at the award show.
According to Footewear News, Iranian American Megan Pormer chose a look that reads “No War Iran” written in black and silver sequins sewn onto her red gown featuring a high leg slit. The dress incorporated cape sleeves with both the flags of the United States and of Iran stitched together as one.
The Iranian American actress and model, known for her roles in “Beneath a Sea of Lights” and “Renegade Alliance: The Clean Up,” matched her bold look with a pair of more subdued neutral-toned Christian Louboutin peep-toe pumps with a chunky platform.
Following the GRAMMYs, Pormer defended her move with a video blog on her twitter account (link).
Megan was born in Iran (she speaks fluent Persian) to parents from from Iran and Turkey and grew up in Turkey, Russia and England. At the age of 5, she was chosen as one of the youngest ever representatives for Children’s Rights at the United Nations. Becoming involved with United Nations at an early age raised her awareness about worldwide suffering and fueled her ambitions to pursue a career in health science.
Megan is represented by the prestigious Wilhelmina Models and has appeared on the cover of Elle (magazine), Harper's Bazaar, Women's Health and Cosmo Middle East. Her Cosmo cover was displayed on a billboard in Times Square, New York.
In 2013, she made her acting debut in Renegade Alliance: The Clean Up and went on to land roles in The Ladies Room and the critically acclaimed, award-winning Iranian film, For The Birds, which was considered for the 87th Annual Academy Awards Short Film Category.
She was the first to take the conversation surrounding genetic testing to the red carpet, pioneering the propagation of the discussion around preventative healthcare in the mainstream media.
Currently, Megan is based in Los Angeles and works as a correspondent for several beauty and health media outlets.
