Iranian Americans Welcome Pop Musician Despite Lobby by Pro-Israel Group
Independent Aggregator of Iran-related news, Kodoom.com: One of Iran's most popular musicians, Mohsen Yeganeh, returned in December to the United States to perform concerts in San Jose and Los Angeles. But unlike his last US tour in 2014, his recent concerts incited protests by a group of pro-Israel activists.
The protests referenced an old song attributed to Yeganeh in which "The Guardians of the Two triangles" were called vultures. The Jewish group believed the Two Triangles referred to the Star of David and called the song anti-semitic. On his official social media pages, however, Yeganeh did not accept the accusations by stating: "Official videos authorized or produced by me can only be found on my official social media and youtube channel." Yeganeh also wished happy holidays to followers of all religions and expressed his "Deep heartfelt respect for all religions and the right of their followers to live peacefully."
Despite the protest, the concerts were well received in both Los Angeles and San Jose by several thousand Iranian Americans, including some of Jewish faith.
In an interview with Iranian media, the US-based concert producer blamed some commercial rivals and Yeganeh's publicity manager and agent for the controversy.
Earlier this year, right-wing Jewish groups in New York also attempted, unsuccessfully, to shut down concerts by The world-famous British musician Roger Waters, founding member of the iconic rock band Pink Floyd, known among many Iranians with The Wall. Waters has received threats and intimidation because he is a staunch supporter of the international BDS, Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement targeting Israel over its discriminatory abusive treatment of Palestinians and building divisive walls.
