Iranian movies were received well in India and England
Last week Iranian movies were seen by movie lovers in India and Ireland. In India, The Times of India reports that a six-day Iranian Film and Art exhibition was inaugurated by Ali Dahgai, director, Iran Culture House, at the Department of Persian, Lucknow University. "Asman-e-Mehboob" was the first movie to entertain the guests.
Elsewhere in South Devon in England, film fans in Totnes got a chance to see A Separation after it received a massive vote of approval by audiences at Follaton Community Cinema.
"I first saw it at Dartington but would simply love to see it again," said Sheila Isherwood. "I think it was the best film I've seen for some time. Very powerful."
FCC chairman Martin Foster said: "This is a perfect example of our community cinema in action – a great film suggested by a member of the audience, voted for at the next screening and now on screen for anyone to come along and enjoy.
A Separation directed by Asghar Farhadi won this year's Academy Award for Best Foreign Film and took the honors for Best Film and Best Actress at the Berlin International Film Festival. It also won the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film.
