Most 3- or 4-stars hotel rooms in Iran fetch at least $150 a night but this nowruz (Persian new year) at the peak of tourist travel in Iran, the most expensive rooms rent for 1 millioon toomans (about $500-$600) in Isfahan's Hotel Abbasi, a registered historic landmark from the Safavid era, claimed on hotel's website to be "The world's oldest inn." Hotel Dariush in Kish Island is the second priciest on Nowruz with room rates up to 500,000 toomans ($250-$300) a night.
