Passion Dance: Masterful Persian, Jazz, Classical Fusion by The Pianist Doctor, Kaveh Karandish
Independent Aggregator of Iran-related News/Events, Kodoom.com: It is rare to hear well-crafted fusion music of Persian, Jazz and classical genres but Passion Dance, the work released this Summer by Makan Foundation, is an audio visual feast for the senses that masterfully combines Persian, Jazz, Classical genres colored with the ethnic vibes of the Indian Tabla, jazzy Soprano Saxophone and the middle-eastern Oud.
Passion Dance is a first collaboration between Kaveh Karandish, Farzin Farhadi and young multi-instrumentalist Maz Karandish together with world-class musicians Satnam Ramgotra, Ric Fierabracci, Oliver Steinberg, Eric Zang and choreographer Sonia Ochoa often called "Mexican Aztec Goddess."
A pianist and an Arizona-based Doctor of internal medicine, Kaveh Karandish was born in 1976 in Shiraz, the Persian city of poetry, flower gardens and music. He started keyboard and piano studies at an early age. After immigrating to California at age 23, he studied composition, orchestration and film music and benefited from great musicians such as Shardad Rohani, Perry LaMarca, Daniel Luzko, and (the late) Babak Bayat.
His 2017 album "Silent Whispers" was a collaborative effort with the number of world-class musicians and Grammy-nominated producer and arranger Elliot Lanam (link to official website at www.kavehpiano.com)
Karandish has also been a great enthusiast of film music and has enjoyed scoring numbers of short films along with parts of the soundtracks for the documentary "Iran, the forgotten glory," a documentary by his late brother Makan Karandish.
Farzin Farhadi is a graduate of Berklee college of music with a long repertoire acting as a tasteful producer/performer for many popular Iranian artists such as Googoosh, Dariush and Hamed Nikpay. Farzin is a world-class Soprano Saxophonist and has collaborated with prominent Jazz musicians.
