This Week on Iranian Islamic TV: George Clooney, Jennifer Lopez, Matt Damon, Kate Winslet
Independent Aggregator of Iran-related News/Events, Kodoom.com: This coming weekend on the anniversary celebration of Prophet Mohammad's birth, Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB)'s state-run TV will broadcast an unprecedented number of American films featuring George Clooney, Jennifer Lopez, Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Denzel Washington and other Hollywood star favorites in Iran. The list of films includes Out of Sight (Clooney, Lopez), Contagion (Damon, Winslet, Law, Paltrow), 2 Guns (Wahlberg, Washington), Django Unchained (DiCaprio, Jackson), Catch That Kid (Kristen Stewart, Jennifer Beals, Corbin Bleu), Zookeeper (James, Dawson), The Last Stand (Arnold Schwarzenegger, Forest Whitaker), Chaos (Statham, Ryan Phillippe and Wesley Snipes).
But don't expect to see the steamy scene with George Clooney and Jennifer Lopez in Out of Sight. As usual, all films will be subject to heavy editing and alterations in both the storyline (through Persian dubbing) and graphics to ensure no politically subversive or visually titillating messages are conveyed to Iranian audiences as part of the "Western Cultural onslaught" often criticized by ultraconservative clerics.
