Buy these fruits and vegetables only organic or else ... (video)
We have published often about the importance of eating organic (for example see You are What You Eat, so Don't Eat Garbage! or the Persian article about nutrition for a healthy pregnancy). Today we are featuring a video by Dr. Gupta of CNN listing the following 12 fruits and vegetables as "the dirty dozen," which contain 47 to 67 pesticides per serving. These foods are believed to be most susceptible because they have soft skin that tends to absorb more pesticides. The list is based on research by the Environmental Working Group, a nonprofit focused on public health. It is believed that food contaminated with pesticides can cause numerous health problems, neuro-toxicity, cancer and even congenital defects in pregnant women.
The Dirty Dozen List:
Celery, Peaches, Strawberries, Apples, Domestic blueberries, Nectarines, Sweet bell peppers, Spinach (also kale and collard greens), Cherries, Potatoes, Imported grapes, Lettuce
And for caution, we would like to add to this list mushrooms and broccoli!
