Do NOT Expose Your Babies to Electronic Screens, WHO Finally Advises
Health and Science Blog, Kodoom.com Editorial:
Earlier this year we shared research by Dr. Devra Davis on "The Truth About Cell Phone Radiation, What the Industry has done to Hide it!" (news link) but now finally the World Health Organization (WHO) has issued its first ever guideline that discourages children aged four and under from use of electronic screens such as mobile phones, tablets and computers.
According to the new guideline, children under 12 months old should not be exposed AT ALL to any electronic screens. "Healthy physical activity, sedentary behavior and sleep habits are established early in life, providing an opportunity to shape habits through childhood, adolescence and into adulthood," the WHO stated in the guidelines to member states.
Being inactive is a "leading risk factor" for mortality, and is fueling a global rise in overweight and obesity, the agency said. Being excessively overweight can lead to diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes and some types of cancer.
In a report from 2017, the WHO said the number of obese children and adolescents globally had skyrocketed tenfold to 120 million inside the past 40 years. It added that the rise was accelerating in low- and middle-income nations, especially in Asia.
A well documented film investigating the problem of children exposure to electronics is GENERATION ZAPPED by Director Sabine El Gemayel, winner of Best Documentary Award in DC Independent Film Festival. The documentary investigates the potential dangers of prolonged exposure to Radio Frequencies (RF) from wireless technology; its effects on our health and well-being, as well as the health and development of our children.
