Iranian Preacher: Coronavirus is A Secular Plot to Fight Religion in the World!

According to Persian news media, Seyed Abbas Motlagh, the speaker (preacher) before Friday prayer in Iran's holy city of Qom (an epicenter of coronavirus in Iran) has claimed that coronavirus is a secular plot to fight religion in Iran and the world: "A group is using this virus as an excuse to shut down public religious rituals in the holy month of Muharram. Coronavirus is a secular weapon to undermine religious beliefs and gatherings in the world! They should know that nobody can stop us from attending our holy sites and rituals."
Although holy cities such as Qom and Mashhad are among epicenters for the spread of coronavirus in Iran, President Rouhani has yielded to pressures by conservative clerics and not banned group religious rituals in the upcoming holy months of Muharram and Safar, contrary to the recommendations by his own Health Minister.
The coronavirus spread has been rampant in Iran, causing new daily hospitalizations and death toll to reach an all time high.
