Why Are Some Americans Vaccine Hesitant?

Wealthy Iranians who pay high blackmarket prices (up to $1000 a shot!) for vaccines or travel to Armenia to get a shot of mRNA vaccines are surprised to see some 30-40% of Americans are rejecting free vaccines, threats, mandates and even $100-$2000 in bonuses offered by different states and employers for the shots! So many people outside America are wondering why a group of Americans are resisting the free vaccines and bonus payments and perks. In fact, a new survey by Carnegie Mellon and University of Pittsburgh on five million respondents demonstrates that more than 23% of people who question vaccines have a Ph.D. or an equivalent post graduate degree, some 10 times higher than the 2% of Ph.D.'s in the sample population.
It is not easy to directly hear the or see the points made by vaccine hesitants because many of their pages and channels are now removed or suspended in social media, particularly on Facebook, Instagram and Youtube. The $2 billion vaccine marketing budget has further silenced many critics of the vaccines. So here is what our investigation shows.
The objections and questions of the group are in three categories: Political, commercial and scientific.
Politically and commercially, the group cites the revolving door and close business connections between regulatory agencies such as FDA, CDC and pharmaceutical companies that develop vaccines, as proof of conflict of interest tainting the approval and regulatory processes. The critics cite as examples of poor oversight a long history of recalled and injurious drugs such as Vioxx, Thalidomide, Anthrax vaccines, swine flu vaccine, etc. A prominent example of revolving doors cited are a handful of powerful executives who serve on, and connect, boards of director of Pfizer (vaccine developer), Gates Foundation, Facebook, Presidential Commission on Election, MIT, New York University, University of California, FDA, National Academy of Medicine, General Electric, Goldman Sachs and even news agencies like Reuters and CNBC. The central target of many critics is Bill Gates who through the Gates Foundation funds vaccination campaigns such as Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance while influencing global health organizations (such as WHO), vaccine manufacturing companies and government officials. For example, Robert F. Kennedy (pictured below) has just published a book on the financial ties between Bill Gates and Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) since 1984.
Unfortunately, there have been no meaningful or direct debates between vaccine promoters such as Bill Gates and Anthony Fauci and vaccine-critics such as Robert F. Kennedy so an independent observer needs to read the arguments of both sides and judge for themselves the merits of each position, or perhaps the merit of a middle ground. Many people who are too busy to read these nuances, decide to trust the official statements by authorities and accept both the rewards and risks associated with the vaccines.
Scientifically, the doctors and scientists in the vaccine hesitant group have three main areas of concern:
1) They pose concerns about the safety and efficacy of the vaccines. Many of these concerns are hard to investigate because granular individually-tracked data are not made available by public health agencies. The only database that registers a portion of voluntary (not mandatory) reports on post-vaccine injuries is VAERS: https://vaers.hhs.gov, according to which nearly 600,000 injury reports have been filed as of August 13, including some 13000 deaths, 72000 urgent care visits, 17000 permanent disabilities, 1600 miscarriages, 4800 myocarditis and 5900 heart attacks. Pro-vaccine advocates and government agencies remind people that reporting an injury does not necessarily establish causative links to vaccines. Vaccine critics, on the other hand, cite a 2010 study by Harvard Pilgrim Health Care for U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, which estimates that VAERS could underrepresent the actual field cases by a factor of 100. From an objective perspective, assessing the exact levels of vaccine-caused injuries is not an easy task because there are currently no large scale epidemiological or clinical projects to track individual data.
2) Groups of doctors such as The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, or America's Frontline Doctors or Frontline Covid-19 Critical Care are fighting what they call censorship and stonewalling by the authorities of proven treatments other than vaccines such as Ivermectin or COVID prevention measures such as boosting Vitamin D levels.
3) There are scientific concerns and questions about the mRNA vaccine technology. These questions are technical and beyond the scope of our research but they are generally related to potential risks associated with the vaccine-induced spike proteins, lipid nanoparticles, and a condition called Antibody Dependent Enhancement (ADE).
