Young Iranian Musician Doctor Appointed as Head of Medical School at Imperial College, London

A young Iranian doctor and Setar player has been appointed by the prestigious Imperial College in London as Head of School of Medicine. Dr. Amir Hossein Sam, a Consultant Physician and Endocrinologist at Hammersmith and Charing Cross Hospitals, graduated from UCL with prizes and distinctions in all pre-clinical and clinical subjects. During his undergraduate training he received a scholarship to study Endocrinology at the Harvard Medical School. His postgraduate medical training was in Oxford and London. He completed his PhD in Neuroendocrinology as a Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Fellow at Imperial College London.
A prominent setar player and composer of traditional Persian music, Dr. Sam recently performed musical improvisations with journalist Masoud Behnoud at a memorial (shown below) in London for the victims of the Ukrainian Airline which was shut down in Tehran.
