Mohsen Namjoo Apologizes to, But His Lawyer Warns, Those Accusing him of Sexual Abuse
Cultural and Entertainment Blog, Kodoom.com:
Recently, exiled Iranian musician Mohsen Namjoo who has been accused of sexual misconduct, issued a mea culpa video, in which he apologized for any sexual misconduct and blamed the misogynistic culture promoted by Iran's Islamic government for how he was raised:
But shortly after his first video (in Persian), his lawyer issued a stern warning (in English) against anyone making further factually untrue or defamatory statements against Mr. Namjoo.
As part of Iran's Me-Too movement, last year, 13 women, including journalists and former students, accused famed Iranian painter Aydin Aghdashloo (former husband of Iranian American actress Shohreh Aghdashloo) of sexual misconduct, the artist is faced with the possible withdrawal of his work from an esteemed auction, and that of the executive producer from a documentary about his life. Additionally, the Toronto-based Iranian art and culture festival, Tirgan, in which Aghdashloo typically participates, has been petitioned to disinvite him from future events, according to Art Forum.
