The Director of Persian Adaptation of Shakespeare's Play Was Arrested Because of this Video
Independent Aggregator of Iran-related News/Events, Kodoom.com: In a bizarre development, Iran's Islamic Judiciary has arrested Maryam Kazemi, the director of a Persian adaptation of Shakespeare's well known play Midsummer Night's Dream, together with Saeed Asadi, director of City Theater (Teatr Shahr in Persian) Tehran's largest playhouse. According to Iran's Dramatic Arts Director, the play was also canceled due to an unauthorized teaser video (shown below) which contains dancing, happy songs and mingling of men and women actors.
Iran's conservative Judiciary and the clerics who rule it, are close to the Supreme Leader and Revolutionary Guard Corps and often at odds with President Rohani's reformist policies that can lead to a more open society.
