Iran's First Female Conductor Leads Orchestra in Tehran
Independent Aggregator of Iran-related News/Events, Kodoom.com: Nezhat Amiri, Iran's first and only musical conductor led the majority-male Naghmeh Baran National Orchestra in a performance at the Fajr Music Festival currently held in Tehran. Ali Amir Ghasemi was the male vocalist of the performance.
Amiri, has a Masters degree in music composition from Tehran Arts University. She studied under Parviz Mansouri and Hossein Alizadeh.
Separately, there were mixed gender performances in the Music festival such as the concert by Tar-o-Pood performing music composed by Hamid Motabassem. The ensemble included instrumentalists Samira Golbaz, Bahar Modiri, Arsalan Alizadeh, Behnam Masoumi.
