Massoumeh Seyhoun Patroness of Iranian Arts Dies at 76
Born 1934 in Rasht, Iran, Monir Noushin (renamed Massoumeh Seyhoun after marriage to renowned architect Houshang Seyhoun) is a distinguished artist and founder of one of Iran's oldest Art Galleries - Seyhoun Art Gallery in Tehran. She was jailed for a year after the Iranian revolution because of her political beliefs but upon her release in 1982, she continued her unwavering support of emerging contemporary Iranian artists. Her daughter, Maryam Seyhoun, opened a Los Angeles location of Seyhoun Gallery in 2004. Together, the two Seyhoun galleries have offered close to 2000 exhibitions in support and promotion of Iranian artists.
