A Lamborghini was just sold for $3 million in Tehran, About 500 Years in Average Salaries
Independent Aggregator of Iran-related News/Events, Kodoom.com: The sale of a Lamborghini Aventador SV in Iran for 13 billion toomans (about $3 million) has outraged some Iranians given the country's harsh economic conditions and income disparity among citizens.
The exorbitant price reflects Iran's high tariffs on luxury imported cars. In the US, a 2016 Lamborghini Aventador LP750-4 SV sells for nearly $500,000, some six times less than the price paid in Iran.
An average teacher in Tehran makes about $400 a month so the car costs about 500 years of an average salary! While the US version sells for about 10 years of an average salary.
Some political observers blame recent unrest in several Iranian cities on income disparity, unemployment, censorship, and years of crippling sanctions imposed on Iran by the US to protect Israel and Saudi Arabia.
