Thirsty and Beheaded! In Pictures: Drought-Stricken Shadegan Date Palm Groves
Independent Aggregator of Iran-related News/Events, Kodoom.com: For years, the date palm groves of Shadegan in the Khuzistan Province have been the source of Iran's premium dates to countries such as Argentina, Russia and Central Asia. But now drought, salty waters of Maroon, and over-harvest have resulted in dying groves pictured here.
Unfortunately, the Karoun water transfer project has not prevented the slow death.
Iranian "rotab" dates are among the most premium fresh dates in the world.
