Daughter of Iranian immigrants wins Green Party seat in New Zealand Parliament
Independent Aggregator of Iran-related News/Events, Kodoom.com: For the first time ever, a refugee has been elected to new Zealand's parliament. New Green Party MP Golriz Ghahraman, daughter of Iranian asylees, was elected to Parliament as a list MP after special votes were counted in the 2017 general election.
Ghahraman, a human rights lawyer and a graduate of Oxford University, has just moved into a small flat in the Auckland suburb of Freemans Bay. She is an avid opponent of what she calls Trumpism and politics of division and hatred.
