Iran's notorious torture chamber opens under a different name
Dr. Mehdi Khazali, Iranian reformist and son of conservative cleric Ayatollah Khazali, has quoted his unidentified but reliable sources about the re-opening of the notorious torture dungeon Kahrizak under a new name (Soroush 111). Khazali claims Tehran's Police Chief is aware of this.
Kahrizak prison was closed following an Executive order by Iranian leader (Ali Khamenei), and only after reformists disclosed the use of torture and inhumane conditions there which lead to death of several jailed reformists. Some opposition leaders claim the re-opening of Kahrizak under a new name, is supervised and directed by the Iranian leader Ali Khamenei and his initial order to temporarily close the facility was to manipulate public opinion.
Saeed Mortazavi (Tehran's former prosecutor) and Radan (Tehran's Police Chief) are believed to be the masterminds of Kahrizak but none have been punished or officially indicted in the formal investigations.
