Iran's next President? (Video)
Leaked video (below) shows Tehran's mayor and Presidential candidate Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, harshly and emotionally criticizes Hashemi Rafsanjani and shows his allegiance to Iran's Supreme Leader. Many observers believe Ghalibaf, a former member of IRGC (Iran's Revolutionary Guards Corp), is the closest among Presidential candidates, to Iran's Supreme Leader and is the most likely successor to Ahmadinejad.
Reformists may either boycott the elections or support Hashemi Rafsanjani, former President and Head of Expediency Council, who believes in a moderate foreign policy different than the Supreme Leader's.
Ahmadinejad's supporters will most likely support Rahim Mashaei (if he is not disqualified by the Guardian Council), Ahmadinejad's mentor and Chief of staff, who promotes nationalism over traditional views of Islam and is often attacked by the Supreme Leader's supporters and clerics. There are reports of clashes between Mashaei's supporters and opponents today in Iran's Election Headquarters.
