12 members of Iranian Teachers Professional Association among political prisoners

HRANA (Human Rights Activists News Agency) reports that Mohammad Ali Shirazi and Mohammad Ali Shahedi, two members of the Teachers Professional Association in the city of Yazd were recently arrested by government forces. This brings the total number of teacher activists and members of Teachers Professional Associations arrested as political prisoners to 12, including Ali Akbar Baghani, the president of the Association.

Farzad Kamangar, who was recently executed by the Iranian government despite international outcry, was a also a member of the Teachers Professional Association in the province of Kurdistan.
