Canadian House of Commons: "Ahmadinejad’s Iran: A threat to peace, human rights and international law"
The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development in Canadian House of Commons has issued its report titled "Ahmadinejad’s Iran: A Threat to Peace, Human Rights and International Law."
The report is highly critical of Iran's treatment of ethnic minorities, dissidents, religious minorities, reformists, and political prisoners under Ahmadinejad. The report also criticizes Ahmadinejad's stance on holocaust. The Committee makes 24 specific recommendations to Canadian government when dealing with the issue, inculding:
- Moral and financial support for human rights programs and groups outside and inside Iran, and in academic institutions
- Initiate Persian speaking programs on Canadian Radio services
- Prevent Iranian embassies, agents and media from threatening or pressuring human rights activists in Canada
- Reduce diplomatic ties at high levels with Iran to pressure Iranian government to improve human rights
