Ahmadinejad's Senior advisor, Mehdi Kalhor, facing personal family scandals
Several members of Ahmadinejad's cabinet have been accused of plagiarizing, financial corruption and fake doctorate degrees, but none have faced personal family scandals like Mehdi Kalhor has.
Following recent reports of Narges Kalhor seeking political asylum in Germany and her anti-Ahmadinejad statements, her father, Mehdi Kalhor, a Senior Advisor to Ahmadinejad stated that his wife and daughter left him due to his support of Ahmadinejad.
Today, Mr. Kalhor's wife who lives in Iran, in a letter to Mehr called his statements "absolute lies" and implied that he left her even though they are still "legally" married. She did not elaborate on his extramarital relations.
Similar to other Ahmadinejad advisor's, Mr. Kalhor is no stranger to controversies. Recently he provoked outrage among Iranian war veterans by saying that they were motivated to fight against Saddam after watching Western and Italian movies. He has also made the following statements:

- Women who used to ride donkeys now are allowed to ride bikes.
- In a top secret conference in Belgium, Iran's government was rated as world's "best" government system with the least possibility of corruption and abuse of power.
- There is no single event on planet earth today which is not impacted by Iranian revolution.
- Ahmadinejad in 24 hours makes decisions that would have taken 5 years previously. Errors may also condense in this 24 hours, but frequent changes are normal. The United States recently changed its position on Iran's nuclear power 3 times in less than 48 hours.
- The biggest harm to freedom is caused by lies and false statements.
