"Are you Muslim?" (Video) Muhammad Ali's Son a New Victim of Trump's War on Minorities?
NBC News and Democracy Now: The son of global boxing legend Muhammad Ali was detained for about two hours on arrival at a Florida airport and questioned about his religion (Islam), his lawyer said. Muhammad Ali Jr. was returning from Montego Bay, Jamaica, with his mother — Ali's first wife, Khalilah — on Feb. 7 when immigration officers at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport held him.
The detention has raised new concerns on Trump's anti-immigrant rhetoric and actions. "This is an outrage," says Chris Mancini, a former federal prosecutor and friend of the family. "I don't know what is going on with Mr. Trump's claim that his ban is not religion-based. We do not discriminate in this country based on religion."
Like his father, Ali Jr. is Muslim. Ali Jr. is 44 and has no criminal record. Nevertheless, he was detained for around two hours, despite his American citizenship and having his passport on him when they questioned him.
