Bernie Sanders, Abby Martin, Julian Assange Resisting Under Pressure

Bernie Sanders has become the only US Presidential candidate who has openly defied Trump's strongest foreign allies: Bin Salman and Netanyahu. Sanders has called Netanyahu a "reactionary racist" and Saudi rulers as "murderous thugs." Sanders, himself of Jewish ancestry, joined progressive Jewish movements such as If Not Now to boycott AIPAC's annual conference in Washington DC. Now right wing Israeli and Saudi Arabian lobbyists fear Bernie Sanders presidency could be "a nightmare" so they have financially lined up behind Joe Biden and offered him their full support, partly responsible for Biden's sudden surge in Tuesday's Democratic primaries over Sanders who was leading polls the day before.
Another well known figure under pressure by the right wing pro-Netanyahu lobby is Abby Martin, the often outspoken independent journalist. Last month she sued State of Georgia over law requiring pledge of allegiance to Israel. 28 states have already mandated loyalty pledges to Israel and in December, President Trump passed legislation effectively criminalizing the Boycott Divestments and Sanctions (BDS) movement that aims to put pressure on the Jewish state through economic action, along the lines of the anti-Apartheid struggle in South Africa.
But Abby Martin and Sanders are not alone in condemning the right wing policies of Netanyahu's government. Last week, even United Nations condemned companies like AirBnB, Expedia, Tripadvisor as collaborators with apartheid Israeli Squatter Settlements on Palestinian West Bank. This promoted Netanyahu to blacklist UN Human Rights Commission.
Among other staunch supporters of BDS is Pink Floyd's founder Roger Waters who was threatened after calling for boycott of Israel.
Last week, Roger Waters also spoke to Afshin Rattansi about the unconstitutional persecution of Julian Assange ahead of the upcoming extradition trial. He discusses why he believes Washington is seeking to imprison Assange for 175 years and the importance of his leaks.
